Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome [Blu-ray + UV Copy] [2012] [Region Free]

Release date [UK] August 5, 2013

Six months after it's release in North AmericaBattlestar Galactica: Blood and Chromefinally gets a blu-ray release in Europe, in the UK in August. Late last year the pilot was releaased as a webseries and was quite popular. Still Syfy decided not to turn it into a series.

The SFX looks a lot better than many other series currently airing, the UK release has English, French & Spanish subtitles and is region free! As we all now Ronald D Moore is currently creating a new scifi series for Syfy calledHelix so it's probable we won't see any new Battlestar Galactica in the near future.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome [Blu-ray]

Release date [North America] February 19, 2013

Suddenly earlier this week the news came that Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome was going to be a webseries, although was not a surprise, it was a surprise that it is going to start this week, Friday November 9. Although I'm happy we finally are going to see Blood and Chrome I must say I'm disappointed it's going to be a webseries.

In the aanouncement earlier this week it was announced Blood and Chrome would be released on Blu-Ray and DVD early in the next year, well they hold true to their word. Not yet announced if it's going to be released worldwide but at least, according to it is an ALL REGIONS release!

Battlestar: Blood and Chrome to debut as web series Nov. 9

It's been in the works for a while, and now we finally know when and how we'll get to see the eagerly anticipated Battlestar Galactica prequel Blood and Chrome. So what's up?

The series will first roll out as a 10-episode web series on Machinima, broken up into 7-12 minute installments. If Machinima sound familiar, it should, as it was also home to the epic Mortal Kombat web series Legacy. The first episode goes live late this week on Friday, Nov. 9, with the rest breaking out over the next four weeks.

But that's not all.

A two-hour movie version of Blood and Chrome will also air on Syfy in early 2013, followed by an unrated DVD release that will hit shelves soon after that. Let's hope also a Blu-Ray release! See the new trailer below:

So BSG: Blood & Chrome May Still Be A Syfy Series After All!

Well this is some frakkin good news!  Apparently Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome is still be considered to be a series on Syfy after all!  Jane Espenson (co-executive producer and writer) said at the “So Say We All Comic-Con Panel” that she is convinced that Blood and Chrome is still on the table as a series for Syfy (according to  She also said that if it does become a web-series in the end that it shouldn’t be thought of as “less than”, saying,

“It’s everything TV can be and more, because you don’t have voices from above—standards and practices—and all the things that go into making something corporately accessible. You get the pure vision.”

Also, at the panel, a Syfy exec said that the pilot (which will be airing as a TV movie at some point on Syfy) would be finished soon!  Honestly, that movie is the key to it making it to series.  If it gets good ratings, it could act as a back-door pilot to a real series.  It just needs some stellar ratings!

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ Not Moving Forward As TV Series On Syfy, May Become Digital Series

It’s a case of bad news/good news for Battlestar Galactica fans who have been flocking to the Web to watch an unauthorized trailer for the long-in-the-works offshoot Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome over the past 36 hours. After lengthy deliberations, Syfy has decided not to go forward with the project, about the young years of William Adama, as a regular TV series. Blood & Chrome, initially envisioned as a Web series, was greenlighted as a two-hour TV pilot in October 2010.

Because of intensive post-production, including special effects, the pilot was not delivered to Syfy until last November. As of January, Syfy president original programming Mark Stern was quoted as saying that he the network brass were “trying to figure out the economics right now” and that he hoped those would be figured out. Now, the network has passed on the project as a regular series but is looking to do it as a digital one, while airing the already produced pilot on the network as a movie. “Though the vision for “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome” has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned,” Stern said in a statement today. “We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.”

Despite the lengthy production and decision-making, the buzz about Blood & Chrome never died among Battlestar fans. It went into overdrive over the past couple of days following a WonderCom panel over the weekend with Kevin Grazier, the scientific adviser for Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica series, where he screened what was described as a trailer for Blood & Chrome. That trailer, to Trent Reznor and Karen O’s cover of “Immigrant Song” for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, found its way to the Web on Monday night and has gone viral — garnering some 100,000 views in 24 hours.

The problem was that this was not an official trailer but a demo reel not intended for public consumption and thus not put through the process of clearing music and other rights. It is still unclear how the video made its way to WonderCon, but NBC Universal today moved swiftly to take down the multiple copies that had popped up on YouTube. Universal Cable Prods, which produces Blood & Chrome, may still shop the project to other networks. Michael Taylor wrote the teleplay from a story by Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle.
