Masi Oka Joins ‘Heroes Reborn’, Will Reprise Hiro Nakamura Role

Another Heroes fan favorite character will return for the upcoming Heroes Reborn event series. Masi Oka, who played wide-eyed time/space jumper Hiro Nakamura on the original series, is set to reprise his role in a guest-starring arc on Heroes Reborn, which is now slated for NBC’s fall schedule. (Will it return to Monday where the original launched successfully?)

“I’m excited to return to my Heroes roots,” said Oka. “Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV.”

Added Heroes and Heroes Reborn creator/executive producer Tim Kring,. “The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series’ success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again.”

On Heroes Reborn, Oka joins fellow Heroes alum Jack Coleman, who is reprising role as Noah Bennet. Coleman is a lead in the event series alongside new addition Zachary Levi.

Oka, who got his big break on Heroes, currently co-stars as the eccentric Coroner on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0. He has also recurred on NBC’s Scrubs and Fox’s Luis. Oka is repped by UTA and Luber Roklin Entertainment.

Zachary Levi Joins ‘Heroes Reborn’ Miniseries

Chuck star Zachary Levi is set to co-star on NBC’s Heroes Reborn miniseries. He joins original Heroes cast member Jack Coleman, who is reprising his role.

NBC topper Bob Greenblatt made the announcement this morning at TCA, but declined to elaborate on Levi’s character because everything surrounding Tim Kring’s project “is shrowded in mystery.”

‘Heroes’ Alum Jack Coleman Set For NBC’s ‘Heroes Reborn’ Miniseries

HRG is back! Jack Coleman has become the first Heroes co-star to sign on for Heroes Reborn, NBC’s upcoming 13-episode miniseries that reboots the popular 2006 superhero drama series. Heroes Reborn, from Heroes creator Tim Kring, will replicate the basic elements of the show’s first season in which ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities, though the producers are keeping details on the plot under wraps. But I have learned that Coleman will reprise his character as Noah Bennett aka HRG, or the Man in the Horn-Rimmed Glasses, a nickname given to him by fans before the character’s real name was revealed. HRG, a former agent with the Company and father to cheerleader Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere), started off as a recurring but quickly became a fan favorite, with Coleman promoted to regular midway through Season 1.

At the NBC upfront last month, NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt indicated that “some of the familiar faces from the show are bound to drop in” on Heroes Reborn. I hear that a handful of the original stars have been approached so far, with Zachary Quinto aka Sylar and Milo Ventimiglia aka Peter, said to not be available for now. Coleman, repped by Domain and manager Steven Levy, has done arcs on ABC’s Scandal, USA’s Burn Notice and NBC’s The Office and continues to recur on Castle.
